Terms and conditions of sale — “Featured” placement and social media boost
Draft — to be approved by a lawyer. These terms are not in force: no sales are open today. Some functions they describe have not been built yet, such as online withdrawal and refunds: no sale will open before refunds exist, and no boost before online withdrawal does.
Version of 14 October 2026.
Two things are sold on Patte Blanche: the “Featured” placement of a listing and the social media boost. These terms cover only them. Searching for an animal, applying, publishing a listing and receiving applications remain free.
Who sells
The seller is the publisher of the site, identified in the legal notice: name, legal status, address, registration number, telephone and email. No sales open until that notice is complete.
The “Featured” placement
The “Featured” placement of a listing you publish on Patte Blanche, for 7 or 30 days. During that period, when a family in the same area as the listing (its département, or its country outside France) runs a search sorted by relevance in which the listing is already included, it may be placed among the first 8 results. At most 2 featured listings are placed at a time, rotating every hour among those in the area. The listing carries the “Featured” badge wherever it is displayed.
What it does not guarantee
No number of views or applications. It does not bring the listing into any search from which it would be excluded (species, distance, budget, compatibility with other animals and children, housing): it only changes its position among results already included. It has no effect on other sort orders, nor on the order of the applications you receive. When more than 2 listings in the same area are featured, they take turns: yours is not at the top every hour.
The social media boost
An advertising service, for 7 or 14 or 30 days: Patte Blanche writes and publishes, on its own social media accounts, advertising messages signed Patte Blanche that promote a listing. Part of the price is spent on paid promotion with the networks, the rest pays for the service; the Pricing page gives the share of each. The boost does not change the listing’s position on Patte Blanche and does not guarantee any number of views. Only listings that an organisation has allowed to be shared on the Patte Blanche accounts can be boosted: an organisation boosts its own listings, a signed-in family those of organisations.
The boost starts as soon as the provider confirms the payment, with no waiting period, and lasts the number of days purchased. During that time, the team publishes the messages on Patte Blanche’s accounts.
If the promotion cannot start, or is interrupted, because a platform refuses the message or because of a failure on our side, the part not yet promoted is refunded. What happens when the listing stops being published is described in “If the listing is no longer published”. At the end, we send you a report stating the amount actually spent on paid promotion; if it is lower than the announced share, the difference is refunded to you.
Price
Prices are shown in euros on the Prices page. Patte Blanche is exempt from VAT under the French small-business scheme (art. 293 B du CGI): no VAT is charged, and the price shown is the price paid. The price of an order is fixed at the moment it is placed: a later change to the price does not affect it.
Order
An organisation can only feature its own listing, and only while it is published. Before paying, you check your order and its price, and you accept these terms by ticking a box that is never ticked in advance; their version is recorded with the order. We acknowledge receipt of the order by email, then send you the confirmation of the contract, with these terms, before any performance begins.
Payment and start
Payment is handled by a payment service provider; Patte Blanche neither sees nor stores your bank details. The featured placement begins when the provider confirms the payment, not when you return to the site, and lasts the number of days purchased; if the listing is already featured, these days are added on afterwards. The boost also begins when the payment is confirmed. If, when the payment is confirmed, the listing is no longer published or can no longer be boosted, the order is cancelled and refunded in full.
If the listing is no longer published
A listing that is adopted, withdrawn, paused, or removed by a reasoned moderation decision taken under the rules published in the terms of use, no longer appears in searches: its featured placement ceases to have effect and its boost stops, as when the organisation withdraws its consent to sharing. If the organisation that published the listing is the buyer, these stops come from it or from its listing: the remaining days are not refunded. If a family bought the boost, the part not yet promoted is refunded to it. If a challenge to the moderation succeeds, or if the stop comes from us, the lost days are given back afterwards as soon as the listing is published again, or refunded pro rata if it can no longer be.
Right of withdrawal
If you order from a family account, we treat you as a consumer: you have fourteen days to withdraw, without giving any reason (art. L221-18 of the French Consumer Code). This only concerns the boost: the “Featured” placement is sold only to organisations.
You can withdraw as soon as you have ordered. The period expires at the end of the fourteenth day following the day on which your payment is confirmed. If it expires on a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday, it is extended until the end of the next working day (art. L221-19). The confirmation email and “My account” give the exact date.
When you order a boost, you expressly request that the promotion start straight away, during your withdrawal period, and you acknowledge that you will lose your right of withdrawal if the boost is fully performed before the period ends. This box is not ticked in advance; without it, the order cannot be placed. Your request, its time and the accepted text are recorded and included in the confirmation email (art. L221-25).
If you withdraw, the promotion stops, and you pay for the part already provided: the total price of the boost, in proportion to the time elapsed between the payment confirmation and the time your withdrawal was sent, rounded down to the cent; the rest is refunded to you (art. L221-25). The part of the price spent on paid promotion does not change this calculation.
Your right ends earlier if, at your request, the boost has been fully carried out before the period ends (art. L221-28 1°): the price then remains due. A boost whose promotion ends after the period does not make you lose this right. The service ends when the promotion ends; the report sent afterwards is not a paid part of it.
To withdraw, open “My account”, then “My orders”, and click “Withdraw from the contract here”; the same link appears in the confirmation email. Check the order, then click “Confirm withdrawal” (art. L221-21). You can also send us the form below, or any other unambiguous statement, using the contact details in the legal notice. We acknowledge receipt by email, with the content of your statement and the date and time it was sent.
We refund you no later than fourteen days after being informed of your withdrawal, using the means of payment you used, at no cost to you (art. L221-24). A credit note corrects the invoice by the amount refunded.
An order placed from an organisation account is placed in the organisation’s name (association, foundation, shelter, breeder or company), for its activity. It does not open a right of withdrawal: this right is reserved for consumers (art. L221-18), and its extension to certain professionals with five employees or fewer only covers contracts concluded off-premises (art. L221-3). Patte Blanche only sells online. The organisation keeps the rights the French Civil Code gives any buyer when a service is not performed (art. 1217 et seq.). If you are a natural person and ordered in a personal capacity, write to us: your consumer rights apply.

Professional buyers
An organisation buying for its professional activity pays in full when ordering; no payment period is granted. Late payment would automatically give rise to penalties at three times the statutory interest rate, and to the fixed indemnity for recovery costs whose amount is set by decree (art. L441-10 and D441-5 of the French Commercial Code).
Invoices
An invoice is issued for each confirmed payment. Its number follows the previous one without a gap and its content can no longer be changed; a refund gives rise to a credit note. Invoices are kept for ten years (art. L123-22 of the French Commercial Code).
Complaints and mediation
A complaint is addressed to the publisher, using the contact details in the legal notice. A consumer may also use a consumer mediator free of charge (art. L612-1 of the French Consumer Code): the mediator will be named here before sales open.
Applicable law
These terms are governed by French law. They do not deprive a consumer residing in another country of the Union of the protection afforded to them by the law of that country.
